Not sure. But wouldn't you want to look at S6 or RS6 seats in an A6 instead? If not try S3, S4 or B7 RS4 seats. :)

Though if they do the S8 Recaro seats are sublimely supportive and comfortable.

I might try and point the A8parts forum here to see if anyone there knows.
But first, 2004, is that a C5 or C6 model A6?

I see that there seems to be great humor in my question. So if the coffee stops running through noses and we stop laughing ourselves to death, the question was whether anybody has tackled a similar install?

The A8 mounts are three bolts through the floor and one location pin. The A6 has two rear bolts that go sideways and a front central two bolt fastening.

The A8 seats are identical in size front and rear tho the rears are NOT 60-40 fold downs....I know its hard to believe that the seats are identical in size but they are.

Incidently, there is a post here of an A6 seat removal and the 4 part electrical plug appears to be identical to that on the A8 seats that I have.
