A panel of renowned motoring journalists from 22 countries around the world (including South Africa) has awarded Audi two category wins in the 2007 World Car of the Year (WCOTY) Awards.

Both the Audi RS 4 and new Audi TT Coupé took first prize in the World Performance Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year awards respectively. The award was announced at the New York International Auto Show last week.

The Audi A6 was the inaugural WCOTY winner back in 2005 and now both the Audi RS 4 and the new Audi TT have followed in its big brother’s footsteps with their respective awards.

The Audi RS 4 sports saloon beat off competition from 17 other candidates to take the title.

According to the World Car of the Year jurors, the Audi RS 4 is “the virtual definition of a sports saloon“. They praised the quattro® permanent four wheel drive system, 420 PS engine and build quality that is “beyond reproach“. The jurors also thought that the very best part of the Audi RS 4 was “the wonderful roar it emits when you put your right foot down”.
