Brakes?

Here are some pics of the RS6 Calipers and RS4 B7 drilled disks I just bought.

Been around the TT course a few times now, perfect! I actually think I need a harness now to hold myself in!

Do I need bigger wheels ???

What size have you got there?

18's?

I think the 18's suit them fine. Looks like calipers just cleared the wheel.

Bit like the standard breaks on the avus wheels, looks like smae sort of cleareance between the wheel and the caliper. Discs look fine.

I think 19 inch wheels look a bit too big.

Im going for same setup with RS6 wheels. 18 inch.

Yeah, they are RS4 18"s, and not much in it!, but it works!

Cheers, yeah, think I will keep them, I just need to clean them up a bit, and replace those terrible centre caps!! they look so weathered!

255's, they are original RS4 wheels. When I got the RS4 arches etc the 225 looked out of place!

Some pics of the 225's with the RS4 wing, had RS4 calipers then, but u can't see them in the pics unfortunately

That's the set-up that MRC are doing for me tomorrow....(i have 18" B6 S4 wheels)

cheers it took a lot of work getting it sorted but very happy with the end result couldn't leave the calipers that minging grey so had them painted a nice bright red. Custom lines from goodridge took a couple weeks but all in all it was defo worth the wait for the end result and they get a lot of attention at shows now.

All this brake stuff is making my head hurt, i'm confused.

I'm just going to upgrade to 18" B6 wheels and looking to make use of the extra space and improve my brakes, I haven't got a remap but am considering it (MRC).

I don't want to spend a fortune (does anyone?)

So can someone give me a rough guide to costs for my options?

I'm guessing that RS4 OEM stuff is the cheapest option? I'm quite keen to get this 2nd hand but not sure exactly what I need? Also if i need to remove the sensors in all cases and if I need to upgrade brake lines / handbrake cables.

What are your rim measurements and offset please?

I tke it youre running 8.5 x 18 for the wheels. Just need off set info. thanks

I see why you went for the 255's.

What sort of power are you running?

Was it you that went to Diligent Coachworks for our conversion?

eek, offsets, ... no idea mate ...

NS Racing put the wheels on for me, and yeah, Diligent did all the body work for me ...

How can I check the offset/rim measurement??

Edit to say around 460 bhp and 450 ftlb.

S4tan : Do you need 10mm spacers for the B6 S4 18"'s? I ask because I too have B6 18's and at the moment I have 5mm Eibach spacers to clear my stock brakes.

Kevin - i don't know to be honest. I will find out tomorrow when Doug attempts to fit them, hopefully they'll fit. If they do i'll post pics and details of offsets etc...if they don't fit i'll post the reasons why and details of what is needed to make them fit...

The discs are made by OMP and i am running standard pads at the moment until they get low then i will probably use ebc or similar.I dont intend to do any track days in the car and feel that they are adequate for road use, i get less fade than before on a "big stop" from say 90+ and they will do this without any complaints a couple of times in a row which on a road i feel is satisfactory. If money were no object then i would go for the RS6 set up however having said that i want to keep the original wheels, so if i had extra funds then i would get AP racing 6 pots.I also believe that as the car is one of the later models(Dec 2000) the calipers are an improvement over earlier models, so to summarise yes they are better than OEM.
