S3 front pads ...

Post by david7m » Fri Sep 29, 2006 4:04 pm

Hi

Light came on again today at 60k. They were replaced, including discs at 40k, is 20k decent mileage for a set of pads?

Shall I stick with standard pads, or are there any better ones? (discs should be fine and standard)

Cheers,

Dave

How can I get the part number apart from taking the pads out?

I've located some pads with part number 698151l, but Audi have quoted 698151m ..... are these a completely different pad or just a later part from a different supplier?

The L version is listed for the Golf 4motion, the M version is for Audi TT and Golf 4motion.

I reckon you need 8N0 698 151 A They are for 312x25mm discs TEVES and have wear sensors

Cheers Mark. Can you have a look at this. Is mentions your part number and says it was replaced by the other.

Where did you find that info?

I got it from ETKA. Looking again and closer the part I gave you is for the pads and the other part number is a repair kit number. Looks like they are the ones for your car.

Thanks again. Would I be right in saying that if I buy them and compare them to my current pads, if they are the same in appearance, they are ok to fit?

If you have yours off the car then easy yes. Check the connector for the brake sensor. These change more than the pad shape. I would be confident to buy them for an S3.

There can always be a gotya though. Hope you get a bargain

I'm still using the car and can't afford to have it off the road, so will need to buy and replace the same day.

Fingers crossed for a bargain, if they don't fit, I can relist them and say they don't fit a 2001 S3 :bigblink:

The pads have been collected, but talking to my dad over the phone just, there is no mention of S3 on the box and the pads do not have any wires from them. Are they just A3/Golf pads?

Here is the link, to me on the big picture, I can see a wire at the front of the box. What you reckon?
