S3 Idling....

Post by MarkS3 » Wed Aug 23, 2006 8:52 am

Hi, I've recently purchased an S3 and am a little worried due to the car not running very smoothly when idling (seems to run fine all other times) Its nothing major, the rev counter sits at just below 1000revs an 'wobbles' (only slightly) and you can hear the engine revs changing as it does this, I may well just be paranoid but I thought I'd post on here to see if this is anything to worry about, and if so see if anyone else has had any experience of this.

Any advise would be appreciated,

Cheers.

When the engine is warm, tick over should be smooth and constant about 750-800 rpm. The rev counter increments are 250rpm, on a face lift model like mine anyway.

Maybe a MAF meter or divertor valves is needed - common faults.
