wheel nuts too long

Post by ash318 » Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:32 pm

just a quick one .fitted new wheels too my car recently and needed to fit spacers to clear the brakes. While at mrc today doug noticed wheels wouldnt turn after refitting wheels after removing locking wheel nuts both front wheels turned freely turns out locking wheel nuts were too long so doug took a couple of mm off and all was well so anybody fitting spacers with longer bolts check this out before driving well done doug ash

yup i noticed this on the wheels you sold me. the studs were to long and my front wheels would not turn. I just put back in the old studs but need to get nice shiny ones

I had that also guys, mine was fitting different wheels, finding the bolts went in slightly further, but ...
on closer inspection the w/bolts were totally the wrong pitch on the smooth shoulder that centralizes and secures yr wheel.
so they got binned straight away ...... nice to know those rims are staying put ... :audibash:
