Evo 7 to RS4 B7

Post by Lee-volution » Thu May 10, 2012 3:16 pm

Hi all,

Just joined up to this forum currently own a evo 7 fq300 running about 380bhp had the car nearly 4 years now and has been a great car but wanting to try something different. So just wondered if anyone on here had made the same move from a evo and what they thought?

The car would not be used every day as I cycle to work so would only be evening an weekend car, would also look to do a couple of trackdays a year is this the right sort of car for this?
I want a smart quick fun car for the b roads but which offers luxury and comfort when I just want to go up the motorway or something.

Any comments welcome thanks in advance Lee

Hello Lee and welcome.

RS4 is a great car and so if your Evo. There are a few ex and current Evo owners kicking about on here.

I went out for a pax ride at Silverstone a few years ago in one (think it was a evo 8) on slicks, and that thing went. Power wise they seemed the same on track, but the Evo had the edge being more lighter.

Have fun on here

I have not come from a evo to my RS4 but have owned a few years ago, (4 5 6 7 8 8mr340) I have owned a lot of nice cars around the £25,000 mark and my RS4 is one of the best the way it can be a nice famaly saloon comfy quite sensible or press the sport and you get a beast (although a sensible beast) of a car, It is the fasted B road car i have owned it will monster a fast following B road in any weather conditions and i dow't there is much out there that would be quicker, They are very quick cars, they don't feel that quick when you first drive one but the way they just keep piling on the speed is scary , I liked my evo's very much but it was a few years ago and i didn't mind the rock hard ride and big spoilers and low rent interior, I have not took my RS4 on the track but i don't think they would like small tight tracks but would be great on long fast tracks like silverstone or the ring, Don't think you will be disappointed if you get your self one they are awesome, :beerchug:

Thanks for the replys guys still bit undecided think I need to go and take one for a good long test drive and get a good feel for it.
The far better interior and quiet when you want it to be does really appeal to me though :) just don't want to scarfice the fun and noise when I want it.

Hello I have a evo 7( its far from stage 1 these days tho) and a B7

Heres my thoughts on the subject, bin the evo and get a RS4 :beerchug:

There vastly different cars ones a pretend road going rally car the others a fast comfortable well built road car, Rs4 is more refined better put together, safer, better looking, better equipped gives you a nice warm feeling when driving, you wont feel like you hammering along as fast as you are in your evo, the speed is deceiving you'll be going quicker tho. Handles well to, wont change direction as quick as your evo on the really really tight stuff (suspension dependant)

Your evo will probably have a walbro, lum, air filter and a map to get it to 370, the audi doesnt its straight out the box fun. If your not concerned about creature comforts, build quality, turning up somewhere and everyone thinking your a ned, and want to boost about the place all the time just get a 9 and forge it you'll probably be happier that way. The price of the kits are coming down a fair bit to i see.

At the end of the day it depends on you, I like nothing more than the feeling of my turbo coming in on the evo however for everyday real world living and driving on our fair roads the rs4 wins hands down.
