Disappointed a bit by Indy Specialists
Disappointed a bit by Indy Specialists
I won't name names because I've not fully gone over it with 'said' company but I booked my RS4 (B7) in for a service with a reputable Indy that many on here have mentioned previously and had a bit of a frustration after the service.
Firstly, the workshop was very clean, people very knowledge, staff helpful and no issues with the work carried out it's a strange one really.
When I booked my car in on Tuesday July 26th (8 days ago) it was on the basis of the service quote prices they had listed on there website.
The website has now been updated price wise and basically what I was expected to cost me around £400 left me paying just over £600. Take away the dyno thats basically £520.
The £600 yes is correct and true to there current listed prices on there website. However, 8 days ago these weren't the prices listed and what I went expecting to pay. So I ended up shedding £200 more than planned. Am I harshly done here, or is it a case of should of agreed a price before the job was undertaken? I feel I should of paid the price that was listed at the time I booked it in. I'm just grateful they didn't up prices to even more seems I've been taken for a ride really.
Even what I was charged was still £25 more than whats listed on there website.
Just to put it into context, Audi quoted me 'LESS' for this service and that would of included brake fluid change as well.
Pretty upset to be honest.

Sorry to hear your issues with the anonymous indy, although in your previous post you mention their name, hope you get is sorted.

I'm sure someone on here will know the legal position... but I'm pretty sure it used to be the case that you pay the price advertised.
So if the company increases their list price in the interim, it doeasn't effect you because you booked-in at the old price.
No?
I think there are now some caveats to protect companies that have obviously made a huge blunder in their advertised prices.... incorrectly placed decimal point etc.

Re: Disappointed a bit by Indy Specialists
Car made 379.2bhp / 426Nm few little bits to be planned / done which I hope will see me to around 430-440. Next on my list is to remove the pre-cats and I'll probably clean up the carbon deposits like most have started doing.
Regarding price, as said before my quote from Audi is cheaper it's not really common for an Indy to be more expensive than a dealership. 70% increase in prices isn't exactly a small amount.
They were listing prices of approx £190 for a certain service, now just over £300.
The service I went for was listed for around £275, now listed for over £460.
As you can see that's a pretty hefty price hike. If it was an extra £20-£50 I'd not be that fussed but that's a big hike that I don't feel I should of had to pay.
Certainly learned a lesson today anyway. I'll be printing the prices next time, I booked it in on my business phone and actually listening back to the message I clearly say I'll go for 'X' service the one listed on your site for 'X' amount!
They then suggested a dyno and told me 'X' price, which has now increased and I paid more than what they quoted me on the phone.
As said, I'll see what they say but I have the original website prices, and the phone conversation clearly stating really I've paid way to much.

Well.
I guess you've answered all your own questions.
I'm sure they will be more than happy to correct any overpayments or mistakes.

Re: Disappointed a bit by Indy Specialists
Its pretty obvious which indy you are referring to
having had a look at their prices, they are quite UNcompetitive for an independant....given my last experience there, I wont go there for anything except for perhaps a health check, and after this price hike that pretty much cements that
I did my 60k service at Revolution, got A* service and independant prices ... they way it should be

Assuming it is MRC, I can't find their service prices on the website. Can someone point a blind man in the right direction?

Re: Disappointed a bit by Indy Specialists
Thanks, Paul. So you have to click on the Audi badge, then the RS4 B7 icon to get to that page.
Their 10k service is listed at £300 which is c.£400 at Audi. EAndy, you did well if you got Audi to quote less than £300 for a full service plus brake fluid - which dealer was that?

Re: Disappointed a bit by Indy Specialists
It was a 20k service and Audi qouted with plugs £427. Thats Vindis Audi Huntingdon.
That aside the invoiced amount still is over that listed on the site today. So if the site is saying £470 it still added to about £490. So the price is still over.
However last week it was well over £100 less.
Sorry for brief message just heading to Gottinger and on iphone

Re: Disappointed a bit by Indy Specialists
That's alot cheaper than the dealers round my way - I've received quotes ranging from £400 to £470 for a 20k service with no brake fluid change and no spark plug change.EAndy wrote:It was a 20k service and Audi qouted with plugs £427. Thats Vindis Audi Huntingdon.
