After spending many years playing with cars, i was looking at buying a RS4 avant, but I never cast my shadow over main dealers forecourts for service or repair work unless theres no option or is the S5 a better more reliable option. Got about £23K to play with once i sell the Clio V6

So the question is can you maintain a RS at home, i have a large double garage and a full tool kit, welding kit, spraying kit, engine hoist etc

I have reshelled a MG ZT V8, restored a cosworth powered RS200 replica, restored a Metro 6R4, rebuilt a modsports racing Triumph stag, and just finish a 4 year rebuild of a Clio V6, so done a bit of work on cars over years.

A few pic of my projects

So you're finally going for it eh mate???

Not had to do any maintenance on mine yet but one of the major concerns is carbon build up and one of the guys has just done that at home. I would reckon that you would manage home maintenance easily.

Was the RS200 yours? You still got it?

Alex

Best of luck on the search.

RS200 was a replica, it was a Kara200, very good kit, coworth engine on a renault 30 transaxle, sold the car to a guy LA unseen, shipped it out there for him, he still has it 5 years later.

It starred in the Fast and Furious feature from 2010 in a street race, most people thought it was a real one it was that good, still miss it and the 6R4.

yes and no.

Certainly for most things mechanical then you should be fine in terms of equipment and experiance (it's just another car after all).

However the DRC suspension is the main red flag for me as this is a dealer only job. If you replace it with conventional coil overs then that problem goes away.
