Good roads in/near Herts ?

Guys

Need a little assistance please. I'm hiring a R8 for the day in a few months and not sure whether I should collect it or have it delivered. I'm in Hants, hire co is in Herts. As I'm limited on mileage for the day, does anyone know if there are any worthy roads within 20/30 miles of Ware or should I consider travelling further afield ? No special occasion, purely for driving pleasure, limited to 100 miles but happy to pay for more if needed. I guess a decent pub for some lunch wouldn't be a bad shout either :-)

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thankyou

Hayden

This would give you a mix of fast dual carriage ways, A roads and plenty of good B roads.

If depends what time you're heading off as to when and where you'd wanna stop for lunch.

Plenty of pubs etc enroute that serve food. Finchingfield is pretty for a stop with various pubs/restaurants. That's the top right corner of the route or maybe a pub in Cottered (just to the West of Buntingford (towards the top left of the route)

It's possibly not the easiest route to follow but if you've got a TomTom or Garmin then the routes easy to do.

Just an idea as there's plenty of decent roads around.

Agreed - A507 Baldock to Buntingford is a really stunning road.

Ace - imagine a motorbike can make better use of the limited overtaking spots if you get stuck behind something.

That is one huge advantage of a bike. You're never stuck for long. The fact that I can move to the very left of a lane or the very right hand side of the road to aid visibility and spot the opportunities really helps.

Having around 650bhp/tonne makes a bit of difference too :D

It takes a while to recalibrate your brain on how little time and space you need to safely nip through.

I'll let you know how it goes.
