corvette - impressions?

question here for the american members. i've just moved stateside, and always held the corvette in pretty high regard.

however, since i've been here, i've noticed a fair few comments etc from the locals about the car. quite a bit of it has been less than flattering.

so, i guess the question is: what do you guys think of the vette? what about the brand? and the drivers of the vette?

not looking to start a flame war etc, but would love to get some honest impressions :)

thx

I used to have a 1969 327 ci 350 hp convertible, which was ok apart from the custard yellow colour. I think the 1960's are the best looking although the current crop are ok and very fast too. It was my belief that Americans tended to regard them as girl's cars rather than muscle cars, so maybe some of that attitude is still about.

i've never heard them viewed as girl's cars over here - in fact it's always the opposite, it's more male "mid life crisis" or young drugged up thug than anything else. i wonder if there are any other americans on here with a view?

registered back when the site started, was a bit more active in the online world of audis than i am now... though i still like 'em :) wish i could afford an r8!
