Shell drivers club / V-Power club

Post by ecain63 » Mon Aug 31, 2009 8:19 pm

At what point do you start to recieve 'money off / air miles' vouchers on this system? I have a couple of thousand points on the V-Power club card and the website tells me that i am not entitled to any discount.
Does anyone know the system?

Just registered mine and the web site says you get the rewards quarterly, if that means anything? Plus I can't get a V-Power card :( I have to be sent one...

Yeah to get the V-power card you have to buy more than a set amount of V-power fuel and then the following quarter you are invited to join the v-power club.

I had almost 20k points, and if you get one point per £, thats a lot of money on juice! I opted for the Ferrari goods, had a jacket and Ducati cap. Now use Tesco ;)

It used to be good when you could build up the points. Now that you have to cash them in, I find the vouchers useless and found that you can't use them at a Shell "franchise".

Since this change I pretty much buy any fuel that is better than 95 octane.

I used my V-power card with my Shell credit card and you do amass some points and cash back. The credit card means you get 3% cashback on fuel (3-4p a litre :D) and 1% on all other purchase.

HOWEVER ......

I recently received a letter to say it's soon to be only 1% cashback on fuel and 1/3% on other purchases. Looks like I'll go back to one of my other cashback cards instead .... and of course still use the V-power club card.

If my Tesco's was cheaper then I'd use that but my Shell station wins on price.

Scotty, I too had the same letter, dropping the discount down to 1% - tight gits.
Cashback cards used to be really good, now they are all dropping the rates.

Ref Shell points, I get mine converted to airmiles, approx 800 in the last 18 months or so.

I think its one airmile per 20 litres?

The V-power club scheme is an absolute shower IMO now. You have to accrue twice as many points now as you used to for the same value, last quarter I amassed 3400 points but got £17 in petrol vouchers; their credit card is crap for cashback, promotions and APR since it went from RBS Nautilus to Citi. And I don't want 'V-zine' I want value for money.

Personally I use Tesco 99 now, get double bonus points on my clubcard, 5p per litre off vouchers presently and use my club card vouchers to buy petrol and get more rewards.

I noticed V-power is now classified as 99RON rather than 98 but for me it is too little too late. Shell are milking their customers and providing little in return; they used to lead the pack in price reductions and offers but now they are just a lemming.
