Petition against:

The DFT link in (*1) is presently inaccessible but I'll be writing to the included address (if its re-posted) voicing my objections.

What a load of horse-s**t.

Signed. However, they could set the speed limit at 15mph and it wouldn't make me drive any slower.

I'm a speeder in the eyes of the law but by the laws of physics I'm obviously not, since everything is still in one piece and everyone is still alive. I dont care what the signs say; I'll make my own judgement using the most sophisticated and intelligent computer on the planet.

If there was some sort of disaster you can bet your life on the fact that the last thing I would do is follow instructions from our government.

Why doesn't the government stop beating about the bush and bring in the castration for speeding that they really want.

Signed.

Our 'Government' should be shot in front of the Great country that they are shatfting. I did 9 years in the Marines, fought in 3 war zones and been shot twice. My medical records have coveniently been 'lost' to avoid an expensive pension and the pension i do have is worth a measley £1500 a year when im 65. This is just another shackle on the ankle of the hard working Brit. Just look at immigration and the benefits scam. All the 50mph limit will do is push up your fuel bill because you will spend more time accelerating and braking between cameras. Ive never been so embarrassed to be british. This country is on its knees and sucking the c*** of the Blair / Brown failure. Would the French or Germans put up with this crap? NO. They would be burning mp's like fire wood, and kidnapping high level exec's to make a point. Do they get in trouble for it. NO! Because the Goverment have to listen to them. They might be a bit shy of fighting wars, but the Europeans definately don't take it in the ass off thier Government. The power of the public is what we have lost. Too much 'Apprentice' and 'Gok Wan'. Not enough balls, testosterone and pride to stand up and be counted. Too scared of what the nieghbours would say. F*** 'em! Its your wallet the government are screwing. What happened to 'honest living'? It certainly avoided the Cabinet. But they are not bothered by the credit crunch. I bet if you asked them what Credit Crunch was, they would say....'you have it with milk in the morning'.
On another note. Will your insurance premium come down because we are all now safer drivers, lower speeds means less likelyhood of a crash? Of course it won't.

Well said ecain,

Its about time we stopped letting this Government treat motorists as a soft and easy target.

This is just another revenue generating scam IMO, lower the speed limits and more people will be caught so more money will be generated to pay for fat MPs at Shitehall to sit around on their ar$es watching porn at our expense.

If they need to generate more money why not impose harsher fines for those w4nkers who drive around with no insurance ?
I read all the time of people who are stopped and found to be without any insurance cover and what do they get ? a £200.00 fine and a couple of points?
How is this a deterrent when a years insurance would be much more !!

Or how about charging the foreign motorists and truck drivers who drive over here without paying any road tax ?
Surely they could make them pay tax them as they leave the country for the amount of time they are here.

As You say in France they dont take this sort of thing without blockading the channel ports until they get what they want !

i agree with rich on the road tax for out of country drivers, as 4 years ago i found out that to drive in austria you have to buy road tax even if your just passing thru the damn country, so why can't we charge all the other foreign drivers to use our road's especialy as they get slightly cheaper fuel than us. and as for the speed limit, think i'll invest in some random irish numberplate's, trace them. lol.
done the jap thing, trying the euro thing!
