Whats your views on privet/cherished number plates?
I'm thinking about getting one, seen one with my initials, I think having your initial seem rather modest and not too tacky, whats your opinion, should a plate be left alone or have some fancy logo or word?

i think plates should be plain. No logo's or borders as it makes them look fussy or tacky.

Personal opinion
As said your car, your money, youur choice
I just think it makes the car more individual, and again maybe more personal.
One thing I do hate though is, mis-represented plate.....urgh!

I bought a 911 years ago with a 911 plate which I have transferred onto subsequent 911's but now I have an older 1973 model I feel inclined to put an age related plate on it. Having said that I do like the R5 registrations I have seen on forum related stuff. Do your own thing I suppose.

I like them, I bought an R5 plate earlier in the year off DVLA, it was only £250 all in. Not so keen on having your initials on a plate, and I agree with Virdee about trying to make words out of plates that simply aren't there.

I have "cherished" plates on both RS'es. They are purely associated to the car and will be sold with the car or for an owner with similar car.
I did think of R5 <initials>, but decided it wasn't worth the hassle of transferring the plate each time and as a car specific plate it would probably hold its value better.

Well I was thinkning about having a 5 digit ** *** plate, the last 3 digits just being my initials, so I would transfer it car to car (im happy with this), I would not see it has a security threat to my car having my initials!
..and yes agree, that trying to make something out of a plate that is not there!

I've had private plates on 2 of my Audis - since I choose the spec when I factory order a car I don't see why I shouldn't choose the number plate as well.

i think the right plate makes a car. had G60LHD on my left hook golf rallye, worked for me. plenty of show cars on the vw scene have em and the right plate can work wonders. favourite has to be B10 WNG on a glader'd golf. Blown G.

Dont get it
Anyway, I have a private plate and I think it looks good 99% of the time, but sometimes there are times you dont want to stand out/be identified when you not driving it etc

My wife felt she got grief from male drivers because she drove a nice car.

I have on on the RS6 which begins A5. This was bought on an S2 about 11 years ago and the plate has remained with me since. It makes remembering the number easy and of course, I am easily recognised by friends etc who don;t know I have changed cars....
The wife has one too. Neither are expensive and mean nothing with regards to initials etc but both are easily identifiable.
