Petrol

I called at a Tesco recently and they didn't do the 99 octane petrol just 97 as their premium fuel. Have they stopped doing 99 or did I just pick the wrong one. I usually run on V.Power and I am not a regular Tesco customer.

Currently only selected Tesco garages have 99 octane.
Where I live, it's freely available at every one, but I in and around another area I frequent, 99 isn't available - only 97.

The supply of 97 or 99 Ron Tesco fuel is very patchy. My local Tesco at work only does 95, yet a garage close to home does both 95 and 99.

Just spent over £50 in Tesco so have 5p off litre voucher. I'll put a tank of 99 in and see if I can tell the difference to V power...

I quite liked the 99 on the odd occasion I have used it. Thanks for the info.

i didnt think you could really tell after one tank? It took a few tanks for me to notice the difference, now its Tesco 99 all the time, thanks! Also, 118.9p/ltr in Abingdon at the moment.

Could be me but I definitely feel I noticed a difference after just 1 tank, and it's been Tesco 99 for me since.

111.9p up here!

I got 250 miles out of my last tank of Tesco 99 which is nearly 10% more miles than I get from a tank of V-power.

And that was with a number of FATS runs on top of my 'normal' driving style.

Had the same issue recently when I went to see my daughter in Helston, Cornwall. The Tesco's 'super' there was 97. It's probably just a regional thing (can't think why though...).

99 is the order of the day in NE Essex/Suffolk. Mostly use V Power, but in my IMHO, I don't notice much difference between the two.

I think it all depends on the garage and the number of underground tanks they have. It might be that the older garages that may have had 4star have spare tanks which they now use for 97 or 99 petrol. The garage near where I work was opened maybe 15 years ago and has only ever had diesel and 95 unleaded. As for why they stock 97 rather than 99 I don't know.
