Radar detectors - which one?

Going on from the topic which has been going off in the Spotters Forum regarding 'How to spot unmarked rozzers? Tell-tale signs'.

After stumbling on unmarked vehicles alot recently going up and down the M4 i have recently found that i'm going to have to update my snooper as its not detecting any of the new equipment they are using :( A friend of mine uses one which has a jammer (radar) on it which he has said has saved him a few times (can't remember the name off hand at the mo).

What radar detector (snoopers etc) do you use?
Which do you think is the best on the market?

Jammers are illegal (you can get done for perverting the course of justice). Laser detectors are all but a waste of time as they tend to only detect the laser once it has been fired at your car (that is too late). Radar is seldom used but detectors pick up the scatter and alert you. They normally aim them at the number plate - so angling the plate downwards may help divert the beam away.

Cars will be equipped with video and VASCAR which no detector (other than good observation) will alert you to. In Wiltshire the "safety camera partnerships" (=money making machines) sit on the bridges...so watch out for them!

Have to disagree with you regards to the laser detector being a waste of time as it has saved me a few times. I agree with you about once it has fired its too late, but in order for it to be accurate it has to be fired at you twice (as it has always has been with me) which gives you enough time to reduce speed. Every time i've been hit by a laser is from a van sitting on a bridge (M4); Bar one which i've just remembered which was off a motorbike.

As you said at the end of the day vigilance is really your best bet. Though any extra help is always appreciated. :)

Origin B2 with, very discreet, laser detection I find it excellent, you "may" get a trade in on yours.
