MAF sensor

here's a thought..in my car i have 2 maf sensors..on them maf sensors i have to small diodes..now these diodes apparently are the diodes that measure the temp in the maf/engine area and adjust the power accordingly..
there is a kit i can buy that simply disconnects the temp sensor from the mafs to give a more accurate reading thus stopping the ECU from backing off the power once the engine is at operating temp or a hot day...
cant remember if the Audi maf have them..
here's a pic of my maf sensors..
i'm wondering if the same sensor can be used on an S/RS to stop the ECU from backing off the power at higher temps...

its not really more accurate is it, its like that resistor mod of ebay fooling the air sensor. not sure if the audi ones come with a temp sensor, I heard in the early hotwire days there were trucks with them not passenger cars. if I were you I would take full advantage of that air sensor in mapping

Woody, I can recall seeing that diode on an RS4 MAF sensor.
Do you have a link to that kit?

although its a BM site it mite explain things a little better..i will do a search on the subject and see what else i can find...

The S4 MAF sensor does NOT have the diodes.

Nice ebay resistor trick tuning there, love it, I think I'll try that instead of remapping

Having read the site all it does it moves the temp sensing part of the MAF to the front air dam. The reason for this is that they say there is heat soak in the MAF area and this is giving the ecu an incorrect reading by as much as 45F ! Backwards thinking if you ask me - the air temp at the sensor will surely be the temp of the air entering the engine so thats what the ecu needs to know, whats the point of telling the ecu the outside air temp?

mihnea your an

..VW and Audi maf's both fit most BMW's including mine..if the resistor is replaced from a fooked Bm maf onto a new VW/Audi maf the EML light stays out..nothing to do with trickery...
whats the point of telling the ecu the outside air temp?
are you really sure thats the right sort of question to be asking..doesn't all if not most S/RS cars suffer from heat soak..does that not back off the power..how can moving a sensor that measures either air or engine bay temps be a bad thing..
what happens when you sit in traffic on a hot day..you power is down until you start moving again..the same as on a rolling rd..the fans aint capable of keeping the AIT's down so the power is backed off..backward question if you ask me...
try looking further than this being about my M5..

At least thank god for Audis where the intake temp sensor is in the inlet manifold, and not in the MAF

to true..and thank fook it can be moved as easy as falling off a log..

not trying to be antagonistic here its great your trying to mod the M5 like your old s4, actually I recall you cut a hole in the bonnet, I think that would actually be the thing to do here actually make the air temp into the MAF cooler rather than telling it the temp is like the outside temp, a remap would take this into account and use it to make more power when you are running cool, and when you are genuinely running hot it will <beep> it. anyway when was the last time you needed 505bhp in a traffic jam?

I guess in a NA car, it doesn't really matter where the IAT sensors are as the air isn't passing through a turbo heated to hundreds of degrees.
I imagine that the IAT's into an NA inlet manifold would pretty much be the same as the ambient temp.
