Emissions light comes on when cold!

Not my car but a work colleague, it's a Sept 05 BMW 330ci.

When driving off in the mornings a yellow/orange emission light comes on and stays on for the first half a mile.

It's been into BMW and they said it hasn't been recorded on the ECU fault recorder.

Anyone with some experance able to shed some light. (Cats?)

Is it definitely the emissions light?

I would have thought its the engine light.

And if it goes off after a while, then IMO it could either be a lambda or catalyst problem or misfire/bad running.

Does it run rough in the morning or when the light is on?

simple answer ..... it's a bmw ......... tell them to flog it and get an audi

lol, I'll tell him to chop it in for an audi. He did like the 300 odd mile round trip to Harrogate last year in the rs6.

I had a guess it could be maf or cat. Just glad its not a bill for me this time.
