Has anyone else experience this?
My insurance company (not sure I am allowed to mention the name but it begins with an e, ends with t and is the name of the largest walking animal) has cancelled my insurance since registering the claim due to it being stolen. There is no return of premium. Is this common? It does seem rude since I had 7 months left to run and it has already taken them over a month to make the first offer.
Cheers,
John

It doesnt sound right to me I would seriously consider contacting the insurance ombudsman to check things out

Nope, I think this is std practice on certain claims. I had the same a looooooooong time ago when my 328 was nicked and prior to that when I wrote the car off. on the write-off car, I then told them I did not want to claim as the car was worth nothing and they re-instated the policy....kind of makes a mockery of the whole system I think.

Your insurance is against the vehicle...if the vehicle is a total loss (written off or stolen) then the insurance companies obligation to you under the contract to complete. This is why they have cancelled your policy (and kept the premium). It's one of the reasons that I always used to have insurance to allow me to ride any motorcycle, if one gets written off or stolen then it didn't matter.....not sure anyone does that for cars.
