Emmissions legislation has given petrol turbos a new lease of life for sure. There was only really the VAG group and the rally specials that stayed with them for the longest time, even Renault gave them the elbow. Now they are back in fashion. BMW said they would never use anything as crude as a turbo every again :)

I dont htink it will be just over 300 brake though. The S4's usually go up in power not down. So probably around 340 - 350 brake as a reasonable estimate without overstepping the S5.

Probably be a nice FSI engine at that. Cool.

Well If this is comign in a year, then when is the new A4 suppose to come out? Anytime soon?

Saabs have used Turbos for donkeys years too!

Some people will miss the distinctive V8 rumble...but not me....bring it on!

I have to say, I'm a big fan of the B8 chassis look

I would seriously consider moving on from the RS if they release a 3.0 twin turbo V6.

You're right, I'd forgotten them and there are others too, like Volvo/Ford with the Focus RS and latterly a 5 cylinder engine ;)

Ford/Volvo are relative newcomers to forced induction..I think Saab started in about 1977 or so.

There is much debate around whether Porsche beat Volvo to it or the other way around, as the 3.0 911 turbo was launched in 1976 IIRC.

However, the Merlin engine in the Spitfire etc was supercharged. But I guess a 2000bhp 27 litre lump is a little too big for an Audi....although in the 70's a chap converted a Rolls Royce to use a Merlin engine.
