4 point harness?

Post by derdle » Tue Sep 04, 2007 5:24 pm

Is a 4 point harness available which can be easily fitted in a B5 RS4?

Ideally to loop around the rear cross member and then onto the normal anchor points on the front seats.

Why?......Well my partner's Mother wants to come on track with me this month and I'd rather not have her rolling around the inside of the car grabbing handbrakes and gear levers!!!

other posts on here suggest they're not a good idea without a roll cage. reason being in the event of a roll over accident where the roof encroaches on the cabin the wearer is held firmly upright in the path of the rapidly deforming roof.

Although if it's only the mother-in-law who's wearing it............................... :D

CG-Lock's are pretty good.
Very easy to fit and comfortable in use, certainly don't move much since you're pinned to the seat at the pelvis.
Advantage being if you don't want to crease your clothes you can simply leave the slide-plate off thus leaving the seatbelt to work as standard.

in the event of a roll over accident
Thanks for the sentiments...but it's only a Trackday! But then you did qualify it by mentioning the outlaw!!

The CG-Lock looks like a reasonable product at £45 a pop. Peakz....have you used them yourself?

Think I may use a dog collar an attach it to the head restraint - much cheaper option.

CG-Lock looks very interesting. Even the standard recaros on these cars dont really hold you in place. Everytime I get in the car and while driving I am always pulling the lower half of my belt tight to hold me tight... guess this would do it for me and hold it in place then.

As Dave said definitely not without a roll cage regardless of where you are using the car.

Have to agree regarding the roll cage. There have been deaths on track days where the car has rolled and the harness has held the driver/passenger in position with a broken kneck as the end result.

When it comes to the trade-off between saving a few quid and having to wait, or NOT saving a few quid and getting it NOW I always go for the "get it NOW" option ... life's too short to wait for stuff ...
