White M3 at the docks .... what you think???

RE: White M3 at the docks .... what you think???
Good question really. I thought long and hard which way to go.
At the end of the day, and while I prefer the M3's looks, the wish to pass on my genes was stronger. There's no way I wouldn't kill myself in the wet in one of those.

Love the white, especially with the contrasting carbon roof. I read somewhere you get a normal roof if you spec a sunroof - loose the carbon, no thanks
Would have ordered a white RS 4 if it was a standard colour.
Looks like its Amsterdam Schipol with all the KLM equipment.

I think it looks smart, better than the RS4, but I just don't like the brand, so that's that really.
One thing I find incredible is just how quickly white has made its return especially in the UK. I feel sorry for those people because we're clearly heading into Autumn already so the days it was designed to look great on have gone already. I bet cab sales have taken a hit too generally.

I don't think so, it's got the carbon roof which is specific to the M3. That and you can make out the M-power badge on the back...audijohn wrote:Does not look special to me, just a 335i Msport in white, common as muck.
Just wondering if it's the press car that was at the Canary Wharf motor expo...

It looks pretty mean in the flesh. Don't know wehn that was taken but that could be the one I saw at the Motor Expo in Canary Wharf.
One thing I do have to say about it is that it is more than a little bit ostentatious. Do think they have over done it this time. its lost that Q car quality and looks as though its aimed at the Nouveau Riche and drug dealers more than ever.

Then maybe you should leave the traction control button alone. This what is dangerous/deceptive about quattro, it makes no difference to handling in the wet, only to deploying power to the ground. Keep your foot off the gas and RWD car would go just as fast round a wet roundabout as a AWD, maybe even faster, since the AWD is heavier and more prone to understeer. But many people don't realise this.feelou wrote:Good question really. I thought long and hard which way to go.

Looks nice but still love the looks of the RS4
Agree likely to be 10 perhaps 20:1 M3:RS4 by this time next year on our roads.
Carmagazine to have roadtest of M3 published online tomorrow and autocar next Wed Inevitable comparison with RS4 should be interesting reading
Am on w/l for M3 Cab (2nd at local dealer) but potential increase in family from 3-4 likely to put paid to that, but am 1st on list for any saloon/touring version of M3
None will be 4wd though and if this weather keeps up much longer I wonder how long till you see your first M3 in a hedge!!

Man! People forgot how to drive or what!!!! Modern traction control is very effective even if you always put your foot down and if you drive too fast for a corner it doesn't matter how many wheel drive you have!!! Tires are actually the more important ingridient. In fact I remember a car test, where an M3 was faster then an S4 on a wet road due to better handling. Quattro is simply a way to put power to the ground for Audi, since their cars FWD platforms.

Re: RE: White M3 at the docks .... what you think???
I'd have to disagree there. Quattro and in fact most 4WD setups make a MASSIVE difference to handling and grip in the wet. By the pure fact that you have 2 extra wheels trying to grip and influence the direction of the car, it will handle much better in the wet. I don't care what traction control or ESP one may have in an M3...either E46 or E90, it will not handle better than a B7 RS4 in the wet. You also need to remember that the E90 M3...despite the hoorays of carbon fibre roof etc., still weighs 1655kg (i.e. 5kg more than the B7 RS4 saloon!). The B7 doesn't understeer anywhere near as much as the B5 RS4 as the engine is lighter and more proximally mounted behind the front axle. Whatever understeer there is, is purely to do with the way audi have set up the car, not weight or the 4WD. If you want an example of a 4WD setup which doesn't understeer at all, have a go at driving a gallardo or murcielago. If you can't get the tail out in an RS4...you just aren't trying hard enough, which is unsurprising as the speeds at which you may induce oversteer or 4-wheel drifts defy belief.RussianM3_dude wrote: Then maybe you should leave the traction control button alone. As far as the looks, the E90 M3 does look quite beefy but agree it actually looks like a 335i with the M-sport pack but in addition it has a tasteless, horrific bonnet bulge. The E46 M3, although a hugely overrated car, had far better lines.
