Seat repair/coachtrimmers etc

Post by GrahamS4 » Sat May 26, 2007 8:00 am

I have normal non recaro all leather seats in my B5 S4.

The drivers seat right hand seat base bolster is pretty much flattened.

Considering the mileage of the car one of the prior owners must have had a fat arse and like rolling out the car.

Is this the sort of repair a coachtrimmer or similar to could do? I imagine stripping the seat and replcing the material inside the bolster would be relatively easy?

Is this common on the B5 S4

Anyone done this repair/had this done?

Can anyone recommend a coachtrimer in the Milton Keynes/Aylesbury/Oxford/Bucks sort of area?

I'll pop a wanted in the classifieds in case there are any odd seats lying around in people garages, but a repair could be simplest. I am thinking the passenger seat could maybe swap with the drivers whilst it is done?

cheers all

i repaired a golf gti seat a few months back with similar damage. if it's anything like the golf it's a doodle, look on etka and decide what part of the foam you need and use the part numbers to order it up. the golf seat took about 10 mins to get out of the car and an hour to remove the cover, swap the damaged foam and heater and rebuild.

The pieces of foam have their own part numbers? Cool.

Thanks Dave.

Etka not so clear as I thought it would be. Suggestions as to which part you think it is appreciated!

A few items described as padding - but look like they are one piece accross the seat - fine so long as i get the right one.

If all else fails I could try the dealer I suppose - local dealer did win Audi Driver parts desk of the year or something.......

padding for seat / for leather trim
/ PR-Q1A
( 18 ) 8D0881361M

Comes up as 57€ so would be acceptable if the correct part.

Could be 19 though or even that I require both....

padding / for leather trim
/ PR-Q1D
( 19 ) 8D0881405Q

Any idea folks?

If similar in price I may order them both.

Was the seat you stripped cloth or leather Dave?

it was a cloth one with seat heaters and side airbag, i'd guess it was 18 too, the parts guy should be able to confirm it from the chassis number. 19 looks like the actual seat cover to me

From experience of other cars I think you might be right Simon.

For anyone interested the foam for my seat is about £70inc vat and will require special order from Germany.
