My car went back into Audi on Monday as a last minute thing to get a few things sorted.

Due to all the courtesy cars been out I got the part managers Q7 for the week as he's away on holiday.

It amazes me the technology of some of todays cars, key less entry, key less start, voice activated radio, navigation, CD, Telephone etc.

One of the service guys ran me through the basics when handing me the keys, from there it was an exciting learning curve, no, not a learning curve, an adventure to explore the Q7 and find out what this car did.

First off was the twisty joy stick in the centre console, this is placed just at hands place when relaxing left arm on arm rest. pushing and twisting lets you control nearly everything.
The first find was the ride height. This is adjustable and can be done with a few clicks.
Then i find the voice control :D

Press button and speak!! ! ! !! OMG, never have i witnessed such a toy, you press the button, ask for navigation, spell town and then choose the town from a numbered list in the monitor. Then spell the road and tell it to take you there. As most new sat navs it offers taking you to the door number if available. While driving today i got the warning to fill up. I wonder....... "petrol station" i said, and sure enough it gives me a list of local stations including distance, arrow pointing to the direction and the type of station.

Shout "info" and the TP takes over and plays back the last traffic report.

Then i ask for the radio. you can then ask for what station you want to hear. "ninety five point eight" i say. Sure enough London's Capitol Radio turns on.

The key less entry is mad. Walk up to the car, put hand into the handles and before you even pull the handle the doors all unlock. Get in, press the start button and away you go. All this with the keys in your pocket. The rear tailgate opens all the way with a press of the button, if the cars abit too high then press the lowering button situated in the boot, then press the button and walk away while the tailgate closes on it's own.

The drive of the beast is nice. Relaxed motorway driving, easy to move this monster around town and the twisty "B" roads. While I've had it it's around the 26 MPG and this has been for a lot of short and nippy journeys. Sports mode is a bit of a waste, don't think it makes much of a difference apart from keeping the rev's higher. Haven't really used the manual setting but can't see it being beneficial unless used off road or to keep the car in control down a hill with out having to keep applying the breaks.

The look of the car is hard. You have the huge front saying "Move the F£$K over" the nice curving roof line and then the people carrier behind.

I've gone ab it over the top on this post and need to leave the PC. (Wife wants a go) will post this and i may continue later.

Sorry for the early cut off. (or are you saying "thank God for that ;) )
