RS4 - Centre arm-rest stuck!

My centre-arm rest has stuck in the 'up' position and no amount of pressing in the button is allowing any movement to the down position. Bloody annoying as I find it very comfy to use this, and its annoying me not having it now

Is this common\fixable easily?

The car is an 2001 RS4

What happens if you push it back all the way and then pul it forward again?

Got the armrest\centre console out and dismantled accoring the article, seems a straightforward enough fix. Will fix and re-assemble tommorow and should all be working.
