AUDI RIP OFF

I had a slight knocking noise on my S6 V8 at the front, i thought ball joints, Noise got worse and today it went into an Audi specialist garage (my brother in law). The knocking is actually worn bushes on the steering rack brackets (54000 miles only). Now you cant just buy the brackets and bushes, you have to buy a complete new rack (even though my rack is perfectly fine) at a cost of, depending on type, of between £700-£1000 + VAT.

I cant believe you cant just replace the worn bushes and brackets.

Now i have had many performance cars including two previous Audi's (both nightmares)

but none of my other cars were as expensive as the Audi's to keep on the road. I love the S6 but even this is shocking, time to change marques i'm afraid, back to the other Germans.

Probably cheaper to get some made up or make your own!

I have tried that route with no joy. Before the S6 i had an ALPINA B3.2 Touring 117000 miles and in all that time it only ever needed was servicing/two rear shockers and front suspension top mounts. Never drank any oil and NEVER EVER departed it's steering rack off the bulkhead at a cost of upto £1000+ I really do not think i will ever buy an Audi ever again. The running costs compared to other manufac are shocking. I love the look and drive and sound of the S6 V8 Avant, but even that could'nt tie me down. Off to a reliable Germanic tool, sorry folks but enough is enough.
