Hello,
Reading this, it seems the RS4 Avant does not have a long shelf life
http://www.automobilemag.com/future_car ... 9_audi_a4/
From what I undestand the new A4 will be out late 2008, which is not really that far away. I would keep a car for 4-5 years.
As you will read no Avant.
[The sedan will be the only body style, as the convertible becomes an A5 and the wagon is dropped in favor of the Q5 crossover.]
I now hear the salesman, sharp intake of breath, 'don't make them anymore mate'
What's your opinion ?
Thanks
Andy

I guess the next generation RS4 won't be around till atleast 2011.
There was a 5 year gap between the last B5 and the B7.

There is absolutley no chance that there will not be an "A4 Avant" model. It sells very well ans is in a completly different market to a "Q5" model. Car makers are moving towards more diversification of models not less.
I'm afraid alot of car sites write a lot of crap, and often are deliberately fed misinformation.

Remember this was an article written for a US website - where Avant sales are pretty low, so it is possible that AoA have decided not to make the Avant available in the US.

First off all, I apologize for my english that is not that great
Second, i would like to show you what i think is a test mule for 2008/9 A4.
You all know that it is getting a revolutionary drivetrain. This means engine backward and front wheels forward what should help A4 to become, as you like to say in Britain, drivers car.
Photos were taken in ingolstadt. It wasn't me who took pictures, but anyway...
Take a close look to gap between front wheel and first doors. It is a lot larger than on B7 model. It is very obvious as this test mule uses B7 RS4 body. Then take a look at front bumper and the place where openings for hot air should be, like on B7 RS4. They simple aren't there:)
Well, take a look.I want to hear your opinion.
