Post by ninjazx6r » Sat Aug 26, 2006 7:27 pm

BP Ultimate have announced a new fuel grade of 102 octane.

It will cost £2.42 per litre and is available at only 30 petrol stations at present.

Oh and its more benifical for turbo powered cars...Hmmmm!!!!

It's been available for a few months at one of my local stations. The car would ideally need to be remapped to it though - and at £2.42 they would see me coming everytime ;)

There's a test in this months evo i think it is, they used normal 95 and the car (a porsche something) got 380bhp, with 102 it got 400bhp, and with 102 and a remap it got about 440bhp

BP demonstrated this at the Goodwood Festival of Speed back in July with a car on a rolling road. They showed that it gained (I think) 60 bhp. The car had a "Revo" sticker on it so I guess they were switching between two different ECU maps. I have tried the fuel on a trackday and it didn't make any appreciable difference...but then again if a remap is needed it wouldn't have made a blind bit of difference.

As I understand you will need to remap.
