Looks like the new BMW 335i is going to be a B5 S4 direct competitor in terms of engine configuration/charateristics.

3 litre twin turbo, 302BHP, 295ftlb torque.

Should be safe with a stock one, will be quaking in my trainers when people start tuning them!

I wonder if there will be a 335iX, then that will be a competitor!

Torque is way down on a modded S4, and I dont think the price will be comparible

Torque - luckilly yes. Price - eeek - that's whay I said comparative engine config not car. Even the better for annoying the drivers with! Being out paced by a 8 year old car in your brand new 335 won't be fun.

Heard about these a while back... been quaking in my boots since :( RWD - decent traction along with no 4wd loss! On a dry day I think it would give a chipped S4 a run!

I've read the 335i has sequential turbos - with a smaller turbo to reduce spool up at low revs - certainly explains the peak torque at ultra low rpm.
