2003 RS6 Avant vs new RS4 Avant

Post by RS_dynamo » Sun Jul 30, 2006 7:33 am

I'd be interested in feedback.

I've got a 2003 RS6 Avant chipped to 500 bhp and MTM Movit brakes front and rear. Great car .... good load capacity, awesomely quick in straight line

BUT

I have test driven a new RS4 saloon .... fantastic power delivery, much smoother than RS6 as no turbo lag, suspension much more adept to UK roads but its a smaller car ...

Suggestions / feedback would be appreciated ....

Do I change to an RS4 which is so much more a driver's car ? :)

Could you live with the RS4...?

I test drove both before deciding to mod my S4, if it were me, I'd stick with the RS6. The RS4 is great and I'm sure on a track it may well be quicker but how often do you track the car? The rear legroom that I saw was horrific on the RS4 and I kid you not, my wife, who is 5'6" was uncomfortable in the back. Also think about this, do you want a car that feels faster than it is or a car that feels slower than it is..? One will help you get points and fine and then a ban, the other will keep a smile on your face....

I'd ditto the above. Rear legroom is poor on the new RS4 Avant. It's a great car mind and sounds great too. MPG pretty much identical to the RS6 Avant but the 6 has way more loading potential. The 4 looks great but new cars do. Another thought, tuning potential in an NA car is scarce. Slap a Milltek on the Rs6 and more smiles to be had. I did and with the remap can justify keeping the RS6 over the RS4. Need new wheels tho.
RS6 (MRC'd with econodrive) is not just for Xmas
