Hello M3 owners,
A good friend just bought a lovely M3 and i have noticed something strange the engine make a " tic, tic " noise a little bit like a diesel....that noise stop when accelerating a little bit and come back at high rev???
Quite loud when the bonnet is open, a friend who is a mecanic told me it could be the" Vanos" a part on the front of the head of the engine ( for variable timing something) whish need to be replace.....
To me something is wrong i can fell the vibration when putting my hand on the rocker cover!! My friend went to BMW and they said it is normal they all do it!!!!! For me it is quite hard to beleve....
So my question of course is , to you guys M3 owners, does your car do the same?????
Many thanks.
PS: I had a really good look of the car from top to bottom and i can say "RESPECT" it is a really nicely finish car, really top quality. I have been amazed!!

By the way i have to tell you this forum is top class, without a dout i have been having a look on some others and they are crap!!!! they are sometimes nasty with each over, and useless about giving good advices on technical problems!!!!! Here you learn a lot, and you can meet nice people, and we help each others
Thanks to all of you and to you guys who take care of this great site!!

even if it is a bit off topic.

Mr Woody,
It seems you have taken adverse liking to my comment about getting the answer to the M3 question on BM3W. If you have a problem, get over it.
- BM3W = M3 Owners
- RS246 = Audi Owners
- The guy who runs BM3W actually built the first version of RS246, so there is history there.
Therefore it seems logical to post what I posted, no? To use your quote, "its a no brainer..."

Woody
knowing Phil as I do, I am sure it was not a flippent remark, but a constructive one, not many users here are up to speed with BMW's, and certainly not their faults....maybe a slightly slanted viewing of the post rather than the spirit in which it was written.......... off to dig another hole to fall into now...

It is my fault anyway, it wasn't very off topic it just the way i did turn my question, i should have say " is anybody know about M3's?"
Put your guns down fellas, i promess not to talk about BMW anymore!!! ( nice cars by the way.....)
