If they pull it off. Currently 1st & 3rd (8:00am) then I can see a lot of diesels coming. i.e. S variants and also diesel TT's etc

I think this is brilliant (no no, I won't sing the "I told you so... lai lai lai" part

) and deffo an historic milestone in endurance racing.
Perfect timing with the US new legislation forcing gas stations to offer low-sulfur diesel (ie. the one sold in Europe) as opposed to their high-sulfur version, which gave such a bad image of diesel to US drivers.
From a US Gov site :
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/diesel.shtml
And some sales stats about diesel cars in the US and Global.

@ Paul : could you provide a link about those german cities's ban of diesel vehicles please ?

No link I'm afraid, it's just knowledge gained whilst visiting friends in Germany last year.
I believe Munich is one such City.

Ha ha, I was telling friends about your performance on the Autoroute Peter.
The main reason Audi have gone diesel is the US market - i.e. virtually untapped as yet.
