A6 2.5 TDi Quattro Question.

I know it's not a S car but i'm hoping you guys can help!

I have a 2000 A6 Quattro 2.5 tdi avant which hasn't got any fuel at the filter housing, i've pulled up the carpet and to my suprise i've got three inspection holes? One has the pump which seems to have failed but whats under the other 2 inspection hatches?

I've removed the top and they look like some kind of sender unit? but why 2? each has a 2 wire multi-plug sooo i'm not sure? i'm reluctant to probe further as i don't know what i'm gonna find!

I've looked at the shape of the quattro fuel tank and think it may be that cos the tank has three main areas, either side of the prop and above the diff, would it have either 3 level sensers or two seperate pumps which pumps fuel from the other areas of the tank to the o/s area of the tank where the main pump is situated?

Sorry it's a diesel but you all seem clued up on all things audi and it is a quattro afterall!

I'm sorry I can't help you at all, but thought it might seem a bit rude if someone didn't reply...

I have always understood that there are three level sensors on the A6 quattro - yep, ETKA lists left front, right front and rear fuel level senders.

Thanks for the replies, it was becuase of the shape of the quattro tank afterall, all three are linked together to aid fault finding confusion.
