As I will be visiting the Audi dealer tomorrow 04/10/05 reference the warning light previous posting, I will be enquiring about the replacement of the timing belt as this will be required at the next service. I have been told that the labour alone could be as much as £850.00, does anybody know a reputable garage in the Gloucester area that can do this job at a reasonable cost, before I let the Audi main dealer loose on the car and then get the big bill??!!

The whole timing belt job parts and labour shouldn't cost more than £600 and that's accounting for dealer rip off labour rates down your way. It only gets over that when a service is required on top of that.

Phone around a few for quotes. Its surprising how much this can vary.

Make sure they know to replace the various rollers and belt tensioner. Its worth considering replacing the water pump while they've got the front end off.

If your outwith the warranty I'd consider giving it to a specialist.
