Lexus 4x4 she liked
Discovery - what I would have, but too big
X5 - Nope
Volvo XC90?

then the Audi all road of course.

Any advice?

If she needs vertical elevation then the one I would try next is the Toerag V10.

Battle hard - these things do not sell - and you should get £15k off a new one.

For social elevation simply remove the big VW badge from the front grille and replace with one made in Stuttgart, before delivery ;)

v10 toerag is a lot of dosh. The V8 is a good car too and a lot less money. Very well spec'd.
I guess it depends on how much you want to spend.

I'd also have a look at the freelander, and the landcruiser. Or possibly the new X3 ?

Ask yourself this though, how many miles does she do, as none of these things are cheap to run.

Personally I'd have the disco first, freelander next, xc90, then landcruiser. Both I and the wife liked the toerag but don't like its depreciation so much.

Thanks for those - she doesn't like the Taurag - don't ask me why, but they dont have to give a reason do they?

i think i'll get her to reconsider it. May be too much £ though she only really wants to spend 25k

Offer her a Kangoo Trekka and she'll be pleased with anything after that!

Last of the allroad Limited is a sound bet if you can drive a good front-end bargain and risk the depreciation in the face of the potential new allroad and Q5.

Agree with X3 3.0d if you can wait til Autumn. Otherwise 2.0d should be negotiable since X3 isn't selling as fast as anticipated - particularly petrol from what I've heard.

Recently purchased a new Lexus RX300. Highly recommended it. Cost was about £34K OTR though.

25k. Does it have to be new ?

I'd defo look at the xc90 and the landcruiser. If the landcruiser is a bit big then look at the other 4x4s on offer from Toyota and Nissan.

If you can go s/h then have a look at a late pre-facelift Range Rover Vogue (or autobiography if you can find one).

Haven't looked at the Lexus so can't comment on them.

Almost certainly second hand, her worry seems to be things that are too 'big'.

Typical, it's usually the other way round.

I assume if the disco is too big, then the landcruiser & range rover will be too.

Doesn't leave many choices.
Does the all-road and the xc90 come into the 'too big' category ?
They aren't so high but are just as long.

I'd get her to have a drive in a late freelander. Also try the swb landcruiser.
Both are well spec'd and quite nice to drive.

And although she may not like the look of the toerag get her to have a drive of a v8. She may well change her mind. We prefered it to all others for the same sort of money. It is better finished (imo) than the x5 and merc, and has more room. They seem to be holding up moneywise fairly well too (well, better than we expected).

Try a Renault Espace. My wife has a top of the range job, drives very well, super view out, loads of space (I'm talking about the car now), etc etc etc.............

But the finish and build quality? Well lets just say that it's something else!

I wish Audi made one!

Cheers, MartynC

Want to be above all the rest? CADILLAC ESCALADE. That will make you the lord in Europe. I got one right now, and everyone loves it here. I would sell you mine, but I don't think you want to pay for the shipping.
