Most plates are installed by the use of double sided tape........... if you pull gently, you should not damage the paint.

A hair dryer helps to soften the glue.

thanks for the advice. so i tried to slowly force the number plate off at one edge, and it gives, but i can see that the yellowish stuff that makes the number plate, it kind of wants to stay down, and it is just coming off the transparent bit of the plate.
i dont think i can get a hairdryer down to my car here, shall i try sticking a knife blade between the car and the plate?

Definitely don't use the knife.

If you can't get a hair dryer to the car, I've used dental floss before now pulled to and fro behind the plate.

Dental floss everytime. Brand does not seem to influence performance :biggrin3:

If you need to remove the adhesive try cooking oil.
