Porsches

Post by jeffw » Wed Aug 18, 2004 1:40 pm

Driving out of London towards the M25 earlier this week I followed a 996 C4S onto the roundabout which then feeds onto the M25 sliproad. As with a lot of these roundabouts this one had traffic lights all over it. I pull alongside the C4S in my humble S4 at one set of traffic lights and proceed to blow him away only to be stopped at the next set. The C4S pulls to the outside lane of what is the final lights prior to the slip road while I'm on the inside. At this point another 996 which I assume (wrongly) to be a Turbo appears behind me.

Lights go to green, C4S disappears backwards and the 996 Turbo starts to overtake (we are all on full foot to the floor mode) and I easy off before going into 3 figures. The 996 'Turbo' continues to nail it and as it disappears into the distance I read the rear logo........GT2.......gulp.

The suit in the C4S pulls alongside, gives me a scowl and drives off at a fair bit over the limit.

Sometimes its fun to drive a plain black A4 :D :P

Jeff, you and/or your car will have to go on a strict diet if you want to take on a GT2 :assflash:

There is only about 80Kgs difference (GT2 is 1440) and it has 483 BHP / 472.0 ft lbs. Not as hugh a difference as you first think (mine is 400BHP/470 ft lbs and 1520Kgs ) so :bash:

Jeff, looking at the BHP/Tonne figures, it's no wonder you were beaten - your S4 = 263BHP/Tonne, GT2 = 335BHP/Tonne. Plus the GT2 is 2WD and rear-engined, so less transmission loss than the Quattro system. Best wait until it's wet if you come across him again - 335BHP/Tonne + no traction = hairy.

Also, you didn't take the driver weight into account - I thought you might've bitten the first time round :jump:
