Birds in the morning...

What is it with birds in the morning ?!....do they struggle to wake up or something...

Whenever I'm on earlies....driving around at 6am....they just turn into suicidal beasts that start flying towards you rather than away!

Wood pidgeons seem to be the most brain dead...

Is it just me?

PS. My dad always used to have a phrase for fast cars - 'Oh, it'd catch pidgeons that son' - seems he was right all along...

As someone else pointed out last week, it also seems it's silly season for the Pheasants.
We have lots wandering around our way and just lately they seem to have taken up car baiting.
Classic was at the weekend though when a couple of them were following the wife around the garden as she mowed the lawn ! Getting out of the way of the mower was almost too much like hard work for them :biggrin2:

Still, could be worse. I hit two birds last week on my motorbike. One was shredded by the front mudguard, and the other made a nasty mess of my knee slider (or should that be bird batterer :D ).

Ouch...One thing in a car...another on a bike....big bumblebees on the other hand are quite funny when they hit your helmet.....kind of a 'doink' sound as they rebound off with a mighty headache at best I'd imagine.

(just make sure your visor is down!)...

A pheasant which visits our garden eats out of my hand!

Ours won't do that yet, but will eat seed off the ground from by your feet.
Funny thing is if there is no seed out in the morning the biggest male comes and pecks on the bakc door until the missus puts some seed out

Bumblebee on the helmet eh. Reminds me of a loke about take awaythe pain but leave the swelling :D
Worst place for insect hits I've been was Budapest. We hit a swarm of green flies that stank of grass and turned the front of everyones leathers green. Front of the bikes was a bit of a mess too...

My car seems to have a strange hold over Muntjack deer. I've lost count of the number of times they've forced me to suddenly throw out the anchor on my way to work.

And another thought suddenly strikes me - I only ever have trouble with deer and pheasant in the morning. Do they turn to dust when the sun is fully up or is it just because Noggy blue loses its magnetism in the evening?

I always thought it was because they were immature pigeons who had yet to work out just how fast Audi's can be! Couple of weeks time and they've either got the hang of it or are bonnet ornaments....
