shhh, but I test drove an Skyline R34 last year, non modified and most insurance companies that would give me quotes on the S4 would not even quote me!
With the S4 it took me a long time to call around a find an insurance company that would do it a ok price ... most where silly pricing ie 4k + very few where below, got it for £1100 in the end .. and they allow me to modify it! I could not believe my luck

Was the skyline an import?
My day has something silly like 15years no claims. Anyway he bought a second hand Honda Inspire and only Tesco even gave him a quote. Insurance co's dont like imports, especially performance jap ones.
How was the test drive if you dont mind me asking?

Skyline? Amazing. Blow the pants off anyting Audi or BMW can manage. If u mod it, it all becomes surreal. The performance is just ridiculous on modded Skylines, and the handling is just awesome. Best of all, it behaves just like a good ol' fashion RWD car until u overdo it, and then the front wheels kick in to sort u out. Amazing.

Just to slide a little more off topic, a mate at work has a skyline GTS M type II & My Std S4 beats it hands down in both performance & handling. Though I have been a few modded R34GTR's & they are pretty cool

The GTS is a pile of pants. Not as tuneable, and just generally a big poofter trading on the GT-R's name! GT-R's a just a bit too Playstation for me. Loads of gadgets and gizmos telling you about lateral G-forces and all sorts of interesting but totally pointless information. The R34 is also impossible to drive in anything other than a manic fashion, and it tramlines better than a tram would. Give me an RS4 anyday
Tuned GT-R's still go like stink though

The only problem with a skyline is the ....
interior.. it's like a big bland fast Jap taxi. You could be in a 1980's cherry & know know it!

Same with Subarus and Mitsubishis. But then most people who buy them couldn't care less about a poncy interior, they just want a car that handles beautifully and goes like stink for a fraction of the german equivalent (although an official UK Skyline ain't cheap).

I agree DaddyJohal, you buy a car like that for a specific reason and its not the interior.
Forgot to mention the Supra Twin Turbo, cant believe i forgot that, in fact i went to see one (import) just before i got the s4. That car, to me, looks amazing! Even to this day the design doesnt look that dated. Apparently it was the most popular car for lottery winners back when the lottery just started, not surprising really.
Dont know if any of you guys have seen Getaway in Stockholm 2 but there is some nice footage of a supra in that. Its racing an RS cosworth, its a great vid.

Haha, after reading the supra statement I was just about to reply with, "have you seen GIS2"
It is a fantastic vid, it has to be my fav out of the 4! Saw a guy in Glasgow with a supra at new year, with NOS as well!! but unfortunatly it was the automatic version ... I think the manual would be my choice
Only prob, rear wheel drive, in this weather, it has to be 4w for me! My mates Chimera is a nightmare!! You really just have to leave it locked up till those couple of good days of weather!!

I test drove a Supra when i was 24 (those were the days) and it scared the sh#t out of me. 6 speed manual, 330bhp, 330lbft. Absolutely amazing car, but all that power and torque with RWD was too much for me at the time. Thing would have killed me. As well as it's performance though, it did have a lovely inetrior-decent full leather, full climate, electric everything, ergonomically well designed and very well put together. Not far off Lexus quality i'd say.

Hi,

Why the question?

Utter absolute rubbish!!!
I currently have two GTS-t's one with 320bhp and the other which is estimated to have between 450 and 550 bhp (won't know exactly until it's been remapped)
they are emminently tuneable, it just takes a bit more thought than with the GTR as there is less mainstream kit for them. as for gadgets and gizmos - it is only the R34 GTR that has the MFD which can tell you about lateral G generated.
tramlining is often down to the tyres some brands have been found to be much worse than others, and at a 'mild' state of tune (550bhp ish) they are still very easy to drive around town.
I don't disagree about the interior but then I've never found Audi interiors that exciting either....
