Audi S4 Avant vs Coupe 20VT discussion thread
Those boys are seriously deluded. A friend of mine has one of the Fiats in question - he pointed me at the thread 'cos even he thought it was very funny.

My flatmate had a yellow S4 Avant. 265bhp ish IIRC. In a straight line he couldn't leave me behind, but I couln't make any gains either..very evenly matched I reckon. However I would imagine being 4wd that it powers out of corners a lot better. He then had it chipped to 320bhp and fitted RS4 standard suspension (someone with an RS4 upgrading to sports kit I reckon) however I never got a chance to dice as I brought my car down to lowestoft.

I though if I got 300bhp mods to the coupe I should be able to beat him, however he has just traded it in for an RS4 so I've given up trying to compete

That'll be Patrick then (aka Golich or mr road rage )

Well....you knew it had to happen....News of your thread has spread far and wide

Audi S4 B5 is a 2.7l BiTurbo V6. Standard it's 265BHP, Chipped it's 320ish BHP & with K04 Turbos it's 400 BHP (like mine).....

I have a friend with a 20V Turbo Coupe and my S4 (395 BHP & 473 lb/ft) will mullah him in any gear at any speed....as you'd expect.

More info can be had at www.rs246.com if your brave enough for the 550BHP RS4s

LOL

How's that for competing agains each other:
NOT: "let's race and see who is faster"
BUT: "let's see who is quicker in upgrading his cars/switching to new models - so we never really get a chance to compare".

Morning all, I though it would come across here from the good old Fiat forum and see what all the fuss was about
I agree completely an RS4 or and RS6 is going to destroy a fiat coupe, so will a tuned S4, but in standard form I don't think they will, certainly the older models don't, even the new S3 with (225 bhp i think isn't it??) will not.
Anyway just though I would pop across and say hello, nice forum you have here, and full respect to you and your cars, I have always been a big fan of fast Audi's ever since we had an S2 in the family. Currently a 225bhp TT (fiat is quicker than this) but I would imagine that is a blasphemous across here as it is on our boards.

all the best

Phil

Actually I give a to the Fiat boys on that thread. Pretty knowledgable about the difference between the B5 and B6 S4, mention of the tunability of the 1.8T block, and calling an RS4 "trouser-tearing quick" Refreshing to see knowledge of other marques on a car forum, contrasting with the likes of scoobynet where weekly reports of P1s "eating" Lambos abound

Standard

5 Cyl 2.0 20V Turbo
220 bhp 228ft/lbs torque
0-60 in 6
30-70 in 5.4
0-100 in 14.5
vmax 155

0-60 can be quicker but there is a boost limiter in 1st and 2nd as it just lights up the front wheels, a chip change removes this (mines getting done this week) should be lots fo fun.
They are good fun cars, and personally i love the looks of it, i know some ppl hate the looks, sort of love it or hate it type of thing.
I have only had mine 3-4 months now and i love it , i had been thinking about the s3 or even a 200sx s14 (shame is loosk terrible) model but went with the fiat because of looks mainly.

Forgot torque figure

I personally think the S3 looks classy and is a good all round performer.

I would say a tuned S3 would give the Fiat agood run Image

225-280bhp and around the max of 420nm over a wide rev range.

Standard S3 is pretty nippy also and the 4WD does help with grip. especially when running 18" `s like mine.

Mines up for sale so if you know anybody give them a shout Image

Cheers

p.s. im not saying S3 is better as the Fiat is one quick car but for a all round package its the S3 anyday.

I've always liked the 5cyl 20v Turbo Fiat Coupe... (I liked the special edition black run out model with the starter button .. as well as the regular dark green model).. nice wheels, nice brembos, nice 5cyl warble and stonkingly quick in-gear.

I remember trying to race a yellow turbo in my old 1987 3.2 911 Carrera from Zandvoort along the A4. I was alone.. the turbo had 3 biggish blokes in it.. and I still had a very hard job keeping up with it.

You have to respect anyone, these days, driving something a bit different. People enthusiastic enough to do a few mods and get some driving pleasure.

Well ive had a drive and it was a very different experiance to the S3, im not picking my own R32 until March 2004 but am very excited and they sound very good indeed

I must admit until a actually drive my R32 above the run-in period of 1000miles i wont be able to give a full review

There as somethings ive always hated and liked about the S3 and the same goes for the R32 but im a level minded chap and can live with minor issues.

I once considered a Fiat Coupe after i sold me 206 but insurance was a killer.... mind you still is a killer as my love for high performance hatch`s hasnt carmed down yet.....
