Walking up to my car in the company car park yesterday I see a couple of guys having a look over it.

Normal discussion ensues about how nice it is, like the colour, etc.
Then one of the guys says how he has a 1.8T A4 Avant, and comments I paid a lot of money for the RS4 badge.

My response was "No, I paid a lot of money for this..." and openned the bonnet

Only comment following that was "Wow !!!"

I think it is only a matter of time before he asks me to show him what that engine will do

Nice one - you'll have to take him for a spin so he can really see (and hear) where the money goes.

I was out and about in my RS4 last weekend (only had it a week at that point) and was surprised to see a chap giving his kids (boys) a briefing on how to tell an RS4 from a repmobile A4. He was doing pretty well - pointing out the flared arches, front air dam, wheels (although those are hardly exclusive any more), colour (mine's Avus).

But everyone else just thinks I've bought a nice sensible estate car....

Cheers, viffer.

Well this illustrates how I ended up with an RS4. My little boy was born in July, and try as we might we couldn't manage with our S3. "Let's get an estate" I said. "OK" the missus said.

Hi Steve, well played. I imagine your beloved has noticed by now though?

Same here, arrival of son prompted RS4. When I suggested an estate car to mrs viffer she got a tad suspicious and asked "how fast is it? Compared with the TT?" I elected not to lie my head off so I have full permission for the beast (as long as I behave myself while she's in the car)

Hope you're enjoying. Cheers, Richard.

I think we should start a "I had a baby and bought a sensible car" surrey division.

I'll never forget the day I picked up the RS4 a few months ago and the missus was chuffed with the 'grown up' Audi estate with lots more room than the Evo6. That was until I put my foot down on the M1 for the first time...

She adores it now!

Be carefull Paul, will cost you a lot more for upkeep than an RS4 ever will

We had our baby boy in May and then we got a RS4 in June (from a Golf 4motion).

anyone else?

Well we've survived a full year with the S3 and baby Louis, but I must say there's little room in the boot for tricycle, pushchair, ruckcarrier, changing bag, childseat, etc, etc.

Looks like it's an RS4 for me pretty soon...

Well I have 2 kids, but that means I can't justify the extra cost of an RS4

Mmmmm ,our life style is changing a bit at the present so the S3 may be a bit tight and her A4 is ....well hers .....although the rear seat folds it isn't an estate; so does that mean I need a RS4 as well ? I know that she'll love the power, never had a problem with that but not so sure that the 22mpg would go down well.

Would consider an S4 Avant but want high spec and fussy about colours, also not sure about buying from non Audi dealers...... less comeback or am I worrying unnecessarily?

I'm ahead of the game, kids will come so that is the current bartering tool in regards to the RS. Plus builing materials, snowboarding and golf kit to clog the boot up with
It's just the money thing at the moment with a wedding imminent

Cheers

Ben

Ps Drove a better RS4 this avo at the dealers - just a bit cometically chalenged.

a big to all you daddies out there

We have no kids (except me) so just buy lots of big boys toys instead

Haven't seen this guy again yet, so he's not had his RS4 experience - yet
