Repainting the RS 6 Nogaro (or is it Sprint?) Blue

I've posted this over on AW and RS6.com and I thought I'd let you guys share in my misfortune...

Ever had one of those days?

I went down to the building site where my house is just being finished off. The decorator told me he had a couple of unused cans of paint that I could have back to take to the store for a refund (can you guess where this is heading?). I didn't really want to have to take them back right then, but he was pretty insistent and I didn't want to rain on his helpfulness parade, so I took the paint cans.

I had to get off to work in a bit if a hurry to make a meeting, so off I went. I completely forgot about the paint cans in the trunk. Until I went round a tight corner in a hurry and something went "thunk". At first I just thought that something had come adrift in the trunk under the g-forces my performance driving was creating, and after a couple more "thunks" it dawned on me...

P.S. That colour isn't of my choosing, it's my teenage son's choice for his bedroom. I've nothing against Nogaro (or is it Sprint?) Blue, but I don't think I'd be keen to have my bedroom walls painted in it!

Bad news that, the sinking feeling you get when it dawns on you what has happened just before you see it has got to be the worst.... Oh no! Is that a jacket that's got covered as well in there? Hope it's not too expensive to sort.

Was it the 'One Coat' stuf... cos it seems to have done a pretty good job or Perhaps your car was getting its own back as it wanted to be the infamous Noggy Blue ??

Sorry to hear your woes but i'm sure it'll come out easily enough Perhaps Bushy has got a Meguairs product for this very thing ?

Hope you get it sorted soon Chris.

Graham

Feel for you Chris. What an absolute bugger.

Personally I would be filling out a claim form ASAP. That kind of damage is going to be difficult to remove and perhaps you are going to need new carpets / fittings in there.

Cheers

Thanks for the sympathy, guys. A valeter got most of it out, but I've been left with a few bits of splash damage here and there. I've tried steaming them out, but the heat seems to be fixing the dye into the fabric, leaving a dark blue stain. Oh well, it's only the boot thankfully, and I'll refer to it as a feature - "Noggy boot liner".

Worst thing is the smell - the whole car reeks of Dulux's finest now. I'll try and get a bit more out tomorrow and post an "after" picture as well.

Yes I quite like it, nice and bright, makes the place look quite roomy. You have missed a bit in the corner, over there look!

Really sorry to see this Chris, I know what you are going through I've been there myself. I spilt a whole 4 pinter of milk over the back seats and floor pans of an old car of mine. Like you I got the cleaners in there straight away who stripped the carpets out to clean them. After a week or two the smell of milk 'going off' was so putrid that I ended up buying new back seats and carpets.

I will be very suprised if you can make good of this situation, the smell will be very intoxicating with windows shut, just bite the bullet and get it all replaced on your insurance. I would also enquire with Audi as soon as you can on the availability on the items you need.

Vinny.
