I quite like the new series of Top Gear, but last night's "fastest Master of the Universe" was just plain ridiculous to me. Surely they can do better than that?

I totally agree.
I wonder what 'the fastest...' will be next week.
A few possibles :-
fastest disabled driver ?
fastest blind driver ?
fastest p!ssed driver ?
fastest learner driver ?
fastest minicab driver ?
fastest tractor driver ?
fastest digger driver ?
fastest dustcart driver ?
fastest lawnmower driver ?
SLOWEST driver ?!?
I'd quite like to see the F1 drivers have a go in that car, see how well they can do
I thought it was quite funny last night though to hear them having a pop at the mobile phone law
Quite liked the look of the Audi convertible too, apart from it being diesel.
Cheers,
John.

I quite liked that colour, but I bet it won't be as popular now
I winder what it'd look like in Nogaro

My thoughts exactly!
I don't mind a LITTLE bit of silliness but 10 minutes was just plain embarrassing.
Overall I think they've completely lost the plot - why on every practical level when the golf R32 scores higher than the Alfa do they prefer the Alfa? Or rather the fact that they said "if it was my money" - are they completely banana's surely it should have been the other way round i.e. if someone were to buy the Alfa for me then sure I'd ponce around in it for free but would I be happy with Olympic depreciation - I think not! Have to say that a reasonably entertaining car show is starting to go rapidly downhill for me...
JC is starting to believe his own image and press whilst the short arse Richard is the anti christ
Loved the Jodie Kidd drive though...what a nice lady

The other point about the R32-Alfa thingy is that anyone who's actually driven both cars and *is not* being paid to say certain things about one of them wouldn't choose the Alfa either, no matter who's money it was.

I'm not just saying this because we bought the R32, the Alfa was well up on the shortlist *until we drove it* when to be honest it started to struggle to get above the Cupra R on our list, it really honestly ain't that great
I'm sure all genuine car enthusiasts would love to see a really good Alfa again but these numbnuts journos talking up a car that isn't as good as the impressions they give just because of the badge are starting to drive me to

For my sins I used to own a Vauxhall Astra GTE 16v (well actually I had two) which was a fantastic car in its day BUT it would torque steer like made under hard acceleration and although modern cars have lots of clever gizmo's I can only shudder to think what the alpha must be like with the traction control turned off.

Made me chuckle when they popped the bonnet on that Alfa, and showed the engine to the camera. All the people I have known who have owned Alfas with that Chromed V6 engine have always done the same, usually accompanied by the oh so sage comment that usually runs along the lines of :"now theres a proper engine for you" followed by a smug grin. A well polished, and ancient turd if ever I have seen one, which fortunately you cant, when the bonnet is closed
A crying shame on so many levels when you think that Alfa hasnt made a desirable vehicle since the SZ / RZ, in conjunction with Zagato, and a decent one since about 1973 with the Montreal! Every modern Alfa is an insult to the pre and early post war era when they enjoyed a cachet similar to.... well what? Probably nothing less than that currently enjoyed by Pagani.
All IMO, as usual
Oh and another thing. Top Gear needs to be cropped back to half an hour, then they could eliminate all the pointless padding, and Clarkson could stop playing the tw@
