Just wondering which letters mean model year, place of manufacture etc.

I'm pretty sure this will be on the ETKA parts CD Rom, but I don't have one that covers the RS4 etc.

So, if for example a VIN No is WUAZZZ8DZ1Nxxxxxx, when was it built ??

2001 i fink, IIRC the 1 is the year of build. Then again i maybe wrong !!

Check out this link. It is VAG-Parts([img]images/graemlins/thumbs.gif[/img]), and they have explanations of VIN numbers, Part number, and the data sticker.

Looks like the 1 is the model year, and I need to check the sticker in the boot (or service record) to find the date of manufacture.

So are all RS4s 2001 model year cars ??

There are approximately 5000 2001 model year RS4's and about 1000 2002 model year RS4's
