Congratulations to Bentley, but if Audi had studied a new R8 i'm sure the story would have been different. Why didn't they develop a new car Maybe because after three wins in a row thay have to be put in a superior category

Well in a way Audi won anyway - apart from coming third with a privately enetererd R8, Audi engines powered the winning Bentleys.

Last year's engine was an Audi job, but I think this year's four litre is a Bentley as it it built to different regulations.

Thanks for that mate - just heard otherwise. I can well believe it as those Bentleys didn't cause perforation of the eardrums when they tore past.

No worries.
There were fewer turbo cars this year, so more noise.
We watched qualifying from the pit grandstand on Thursday evening and the noise echoes up there, it's ear splitting.
Still not a patch on the rotary engined Mazda that won in 1991? though, that was super loud with a mega high pitched tone

Bentley Motors chairman elect Franz-Josef Paefgen states: "I can confirm that the powerplant will be a 4.0 litre twin-turbocharged, direct injection engine, which will be unique to Bentley and developed in close co-operation with Audi."
It is just Bentley money at the end of the day. Very little to do with the company that designs, builds and develops the road car....just like most motorsport really. EXP speed8 is designed, built and developed by a specialist motorsport outfit in the UK.
