Porsche Carerra GT

Post by Riz_RS4 » Thu Jun 05, 2003 10:12 pm

Just got the latest EVO mag through the post, nice article on the super-porsche......... only LHD though, and priced at around £330,000 it isnt cheap either.

Got some info on the 8-pot ceramic brake system..... but its apparently the worlds first car to use a ceramic clutch which has been tested to 16,000 starts, each transmitting 1000bhp for seven seconds the cars only got 604bhp in total! (thought it had been upgraded to 620bhp?)

Here are the spec`s if anybody doesnt know yet :-

604bhp or 620bhp
435lb ft
0-62mph in 3.9sec claimed
0-125mph in 9.9sec claimed
Max speed 205mph claimed

All figures are for the 604bhp car!
Price is 461,058 Euro`s!

Riz, long before you were born this is the company who were dyno testing the 917 engines, for 24 hours, so that they would last for Le Mans. they lasted the test but............. the dyno room needed rebuiding
This doesn't seem such a test in comparison

Especially the originals (forget the /# reference, think it was the /30) which had no roof. Doing 230mph topless in the early 70's has got to be BIG BALLS time if you ask me. Some machine, even today. Could you imagine the noise a fly would make hitting your visor at that speed?!

Rock on
