Atlantic Way Ireland trip - advice

Post by Lady Penelope » Thu Jul 29, 2021 3:56 am

I'm off to do the Wild Atlantic Way in the B7 RS4 Cabriolet.

Need some advice on fuel. I gather it's only 95RON in Ireland and brands vary wildly in quality (Applegreen to be avoided?).

I'm taking octane booster to minimise knocking but other than that what do people there do with the RS models (rfl is a stinging 1800 Euros I am told?!).

Any Specialists or recommendations in case I encounter issues?

Finally, I am assuming/believe there is 97 RON in Northern Ireland for the most northerly parts...

TIA

Hi Definitely 97 RON in NI. BP/Tesco/Saisburys
We unfortunately don't have shell anymore and Maxol have just started selling a UL premium but its still 95 RON but at leat 10p more than standard.

Found this and this company probably will be your best best whilst in the south

Have fun and take your time. We did it 5 years ago, clockwise in about 10 days in a bunch of A8's and S8's.....
That was a bit of a rush, though we did manage a reasonable amount of sightseeing, missed out a few wrigglier sections.
We did have the advantage of a "local" in the party (from NI) who had done a fair few scouting trips and planned the itinerary and stopovers extremely well.
Started in Cork, went all the way round, just drove through Belfast without stopping and up ended back in Dublin. :jump_clap:

Don't recall anything other than 95RON, and LPG which are couple of the group could use.
