Hi there,

I currently have an S4 Avant (2011) but looking to upgrade to an RS4 or RS6. I have around £30k to spend so can obviously get a newer / lower mileage RS4 or an older RS6. I can't decide which way to go so would appreciate people's input...

Main (and shared car) is an Audi E-Tron so this will be my toy but will be used for trips with kids and bikes / dog etc hence why it still needs to tick the family car box.

What are people's thoughts...

Firstly I'd say settle on which RS4 and RS6 you are planning to compare. Various models have plusses and minusses so a waste of time chiming in on a model you aren't considering.

B8 RS4
C7 RS6

Currently on Autotrader (for around the £30k mark) there’s quite a few circa 2015 RS4s and some with reasonably low mileage. However there seems to be much less RS6s about for a similar price point. They are of course a few years older and with much higher mileage...

Two very different beasts i presume ... so you need to drive one of each and then the answer will become clearer.

But i suspect the c7 will win?

Would you say an RS4 will be quite different to the S4 I have currently?
