Insurance

Post by mikep99 » Mon Mar 09, 2020 1:54 pm

Chaps,

Anybody renewed their insurance recently?
Noticed any price hikes?
Only asking as after going on the comparison websites, the premiums seem to be approx 50% higher than what I'm currently paying.
No changes apart from another year claim/points free.
I'm awaiting my renewal from my current provider so half expecting it to go up similarly.

Cheers
Mike

I have 2 cars that were insured with the same (big-name) company, both have similar annual mileage and the same type of use.
The older one (Audi) went down by about 10% last year.
Soon after the other (a Volvo with ALL the safety toys) was due for renewal but went up massively, about 30%! No sensible explanation was given when I asked.
So I switched that to a different big-name insurer and the new premium is less than before.

It makes no sense...…...

Cheers HP.
Can you PM me the other big name Co. you went with if it doesn't appear on the comparison sites?
Tried Direct Line and NFU and both were quite a bit higher than current.

Thanks

It was Aviva, no secret.

Pretty sure I found it via a comparison site; I went for the Aviva Plus Premium package.

It usefully gives comprehensive cover driving other cars, no extra charge but only a few days at a time, you just notify them of the registration.
You can do that when required via an App, or phone them up which is slower....

Thanks.
Aviva were competitive but the compulsory excess was high.
Good news though, got my renewal through from Admiral and its exactly the same as last year :)

Cheers for the replies.
