RS6 emblem removal

Post by Asian Panda » Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:45 am

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if the RS6 postface lift front emblem, not the rings which people seem to confuse with, has pins in the back or is a clip in?

Wanting to change the emblem for a black one but have come across 2 version. One having pins and the other a clip...

Mine looked like the bottom one but there is a second part that's clips onto it from the rear to clamp it onto the honeycomb grille. Having said that the top one will probably also clamp onto the honeycomb. I had a genuine pre facelift grille and that had a different configuration but also basically clamped onto the honeycomb.

Would you happen to have a step by step guide to taking it off?

Yes, stick your finger through the grille, swear a lot and eventually it'll unclip. I think in fact I might have prodded a screwdriver or something to help. It was a long time ago know so a bit vague but I know I tried for ages to remove. Kept giving up then coming back to it and eventually manage to pop the back bracket off.
I may have removed the top cover above the grill / rad to get better access from the back. I do recall doing that but not sure if that actually helped or not.

Just found the photos of them. The pre facelift one had those little metal clips at the back so will be very hard to remove without taking the grill off or using a lot of brute force. The facelift one is just plastic clips. I'll try posting photos here.

This is the one from the pre-facelift grill:

And this is from the facelift version:

Not sure if they mixed the 2 types of badges or whether it was strictly related to facelift or not.

Looking at the photo, I think I had to push the little tab in, behind the bigger tab to release it.

Wow!!!

Really appreciate the guide.
Is it me or do the pre and post look very similar? I suppose could buy both and return whichever isn't right.

I don't really want to remove the grill/bumper just to change a badge but in either case as you pointed out... It looks like I'm in for a lot of swearing, best keep a swear jar beside me

Bud cheers again been really helpful

I've ordered the latter one, so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 it's the right one.

Got a message from the seller on the first one who also said it would fit.
